Let's talk about fear for a moment. It is the one thing we are all going through due to COVID and it seems to be causing interesting behaviors like over-purchasing toilet paper, canned goods and hand sanitizers. It also causes irrational behavior such as the "Karens" in the world who are currently flaunting their freedom by not wearing masks or calling the police on bird watchers because they "look threatening."

It's hard to tell everyone to take a chill pill because their concerns are valid and extreme, but fear is one of those things that if not tackled and managed can alter your body chemistry over time. For one thing, living in fight or flight mode will cause elevated cortisol levels which increase inflammation. This in turn can cause the degradation of the joints, bones, arteries and the brain, not to mention it is also the cause of weight gain. The unfortunate thing is that this increased inflammation gets covered up through self-medication. Drinking, taking NSAIDs, or over-eating can help you feel better for a little while but this behavior over time leads to even worse inflammation as well as liver and kidney problems.

What can you do about it? Anxiety and fear can be all pervasive. They can take over to the extent that a person feels at a loss. But there are herbal allies waiting for you, begging you to take a look at them. What if you could take an actual "chill pill?"

Some of my favorites are Gaia Herbs Stress Response. This formula contains adaptogens that work by balancing and harmonizing hormones including cortisol.
